My Thoughts:
My husband chose to sample 2x4 and Man Town from the new product line, as part of my Father's Day gift giving guide. At first, I was scratching my head at the 2x4 choice, as he is not a handyman by an means. He, like other men, love the smell of wood and sawdust, and wanted to see how close to fresh cut wood this candle scent would be. The kind folks at Yankee Candle sent along these two candles to try out, and upon receiving my husband couldn't wait to smell and then light them. He loved the musk and spices smell of the man cave and began burning this in the basement/man cave. I went down after a few hours of burning, and have to say that it smelled nice. I am not one to like musk colognes, but paired with the scents of spices and wood, it was very appealing to the nose. In addition to being the man cave, we also keep our two rescue dogs down there, where they have full run of the 800 sq. foot space, and a comfy couch, which was once our family room couch, to snuggle up and rest on.
I have been a fan of Yankee Candle for years, and loved going to their seconds store in Sturbridge, MA, when I lived nearby back in early 2000. When it comes to choosing a scent to purchase, I usually try to pair it with a holiday or season. I love their votives and larger jars. With the open floor plan in our house, I find that when using non-Yankee Candle products, I need to burn 2-3 candles in one space to really make the rooms smell of that particular scent. However, when I burn the larger size jars from Yankee Candle, one is that I need, which I love. So, after walking into the basement, I loved how these new men's scent fill the room. Out of the two scents sent, my husband said he enjoyed the Man Town scent the most, as it really made his space more relaxing and fun to be in. I was surprised to smell and like the 2x4 scent, as it smelled so fresh and clean. It reminded me of when I was younger and would visit my father down in his workroom. He was always fiddling with or carving up something, and the smell of sawdust would always linger in the air. Ahh, just writing about it, brings a smile to my face, as these were some great times spent with my father. He taught me how to do woodcarving and helped me make book shelves and holiday reindeer one year. What great father/daughter times we had when I was younger.
And, with Father's Day right around the corner, I ended up picking up another 2x4 Yankee Candle to share with my Dad. I can't wait to see his reaction, as he opens the jar and smells it. As for my husband, he is enjoying his Man Town candle whenever he finds time to unwind in his man cave. And, when he is working, I have been burning this 2x4 candle down there, so that when I go to take the dogs out, I can enjoy this manly scent. Why not surprise your father with a candle from Yankee Candle this Father's Day? I know, I know...what father wants a candle for Father's Day. Thanks to Yankee Candle's new men scents, he will enjoy receiving and burning these candles. I can't wait to see what other scents they add to this popular line in the future. My husband is hoping they will carry a fireside scent. What scent would your husband like to see, besides the 4 new ones from Yankee Candle?
