Children's Book Review -- Sadie: The Paper Crown Princess by Amanda N. Evans

Synopis:

Sadie: The Paper Crown Princess is “a modern fairy tale that delves deep into what it means to have the heart of a princess.” Sadie’s journey takes her on an around-the-world adventure where she earns a tiara as expected…but it is one made of kindness and generosity. The combination of whimsical artwork and beautiful story combine to create a children’s book that won’t soon be forgotten. This encouraging story will warm the hearts every princess…young and young-at-heart!

My Thoughts:

I was able to read to an advance copy (via .pdf) of this book before it began shipping on May 22nd in soft and hard covers.  Even though I don't usually like to read .pdf copies, as Savannah likes to play more with the computer keys or iPad screen than listen to me read, I really wanted to see what this book was about, after I stumbled upon its website a few weeks prior.  I am so happy that I took the time to read this before, that young girls will enjoy reading with or along with their parents.  Even though my girls are too young to understand the story right now, they did enjoy the beautiful illustrations, as did I.

This book details the journey of a young girl who is sent away to Princess Academy, where is taught how to become a Princess thanks to the teachings of the Fairy Godmothers.  And, if she completes everything to their satisfaction, she will receive her tiara.  Great story, huh?  If only there was a Princess Academy?  I know a lot of girls who would enroll, including me :-).  Young girls will enjoy reading and relating to Sadie, as she is a girls girl, but also loves do things that boys like, including fishing and making mud pies.  It is not until her final exam, that she learns what it means to really be a Princess -- even if it isn't what the Fairy Godmothers taught her or expect of one. And, like any fairy tale ending, this is only the beginning, in I hope is a wonderful young girls book series.  The story ends with Sadie *maybe* finding her Prince.  We'll have to wait until the next book to find out...

I can't wait to get a hard copy of this book to add to my daughters' book collection, and look forward to reading this to them at bedtime, as well as read future books by Amanda N. Evans.
