Higher! Higher!
Faster! Faster!
by Leslie Patricelli
9780763654733, Ages 2-5, $15.99
A
day at the park. A ride on Daddy's back. Run, Daddy! Faster! Faster!
How fast can Daddy go? Leslie Patricelli reprises the duo from
Higher! Higher! in a laugh-out-loud-funny tale about doting dads and high-energy kids whose imaginations know no bounds.
My Thoughts:
This is another favorite of my husband's, since receiving a couple of weeks ago. He makes a point to read this to Savannah each night, in both English and Spanish. Through bright and colorful illustrations, Savannah can use her imagination, just like the little girl in the story, to pretend that her Daddy can take on different forms, and fly, glide jump, run, faster than any other animals. Read along to your child, as the little girl in the book continues to dream big, she asks Daddy to go faster, faster. What is a Daddy to do, but continue until he tuckers out? This fun and charming book, will have your little one asking her Daddy to go faster, faster!
Savannah gets a kick out of the illustrations and the way her Daddy reads this book to her. And, I am her mother, love watching the two of them snuggle and bond over a book. This will make for a great Father's Day gift both Daddy and daughter can enjoy for years to come!

The original family classic . . .
Guess How Much I Love You
by Sam McBratney, illustrated by Anita Jeram
One copy sells every 21.6 seconds, day and night, somewhere in the world!
Guess how much kids will love this!
"Guess how much I love you," says Little Nutbrown Hare. Little Nutbrown Hare shows his daddy how much he loves him: as wide as he can reach and as far as he can hop. But Big Nutbrown Hare, who can reach farther and hop higher, loves him back just as much. Well then Little Nutbrown Hare loves him right up to the moon, but that's just halfway to Big Nutbrown Hare's love for him.
The original family classic is now available in a fresh new hardcover featuring embossing on the cover -- and a new, larger trim size, making it perfect for lap sharing.

My Thoughts:
I was given a copy of this book when Savannah was born, but didn't get a chance to read it until I was sent the new hardcover version. After reading it once through, I can see why it sells so many copies. As I read this book for the first time, thoughts of my childhood came rushing back, when I would ask my father how much he loved me. He would always say "This much," with his arms out wide. Then, I would run into them, as he closed them around me, and gave me a big hug. Those are special memories I will always cherish.
And, now that my husband is a father, he is getting to create special memories like this with our daughters. Soon enough, Savannah, too, will be asking her Daddy how much he loves her. I wonder what his response will be? Thanks to this heartwarming story, he will be able to show her, just as Big Nutbrown Hare loves Little Nutbrown Hare.
If you are looking for a classic tale to give that special Dad this Father's Day, why not add this book to his bedtime collection? Now, my husband has 2 copies, one to share with each of the girls. :-)
Disclosure: I was sent copies of these books by the publisher in order to write up an honest review. The view above are mine and mine alone.
