Summary:
Get ready to join Elmo and Abby for some BIG fun as Warner Home Video (WHV) and Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit educational organization behind Sesame Street, release Sesame Street: Big Elmo Fun on DVD April 3, 2012 at an SRP of $14.98. Sesame Street: Big Elmo Fun features
three full-length stories, two engaging new songs, a special animated
book extra and the full-length bonus content “Monster Hits.”
Elmo embarks on some gigantic adventures in Sesame Street: Big Elmo Fun!
In “Elmozilla,” he is accidentally enlarged and towers over all of
Sesame Street. While Abby tries to figure out how to get Elmo back to
his normal size, kids will learn all about measurement as they help
solve Elmo’s BIG problem. In “Elmo and the Monarch Butterfly” children
will learn about science and observation. Finally, in a spoof of the
hit cooking show Iron Chef, Elmo stirs up even more fun in a silly cooking competition “Cast Iron Cooks,” with Jason Schwartzman
as the judge. In all three episodes, children are introduced to new
vocabulary such as fascinating, metamorphosis, ingredient and measure.
Kids and caregivers are in for a BIG treat with two brand-new songs, and
the “Flutter By, Butterfly” animated book to reinforce the lessons
learned during Elmo’s adventures.
“Warner Home Video is thrilled to bring Elmo’s latest adventure to DVD with the release of Sesame Street: Big Elmo Fun,” said Jeff Brown, WHV Executive Vice President and GM of Non-Theatrical Franchise. “With brand-new songs, an animated book, and a full-length bonus DVD, preschoolers will have loads of Big Elmo Fun while enriching their cognitive reasoning and math skills.”
My Thoughts:
This was a fun DVD to watch with Savannah, as it introduced measurements, in growth/height and cooking. I especially loved the Iron Chef's spoof the Sesame Street characters did. Savannah was in her happy zone as soon as she saw Abby appear on the screen. Each of the three episodes included on this disc, are short in length, making them enjoyable for toddlers who don't like to sit still for long. An added bonus to the DVD was the growth chart that your child can hang in their room, and chart their growth. As soon as we were done watching the three episodes, which centered around measurement, I took Savannah to her room and surprised her with the growth chart. I talked to her about how Elmo got big and that this chart would track her getting taller, as she gets older. Since putting it up and marking Savannah's height at 21 months, she makes a point to check her height every morning to see if she has grown. :-) So, if your family is a fan of Sesame Street programming and their compilation of DVDs, then you will want to pick up this DVD to add to your collection. What will your little ones think when they see Elmo go from small to BIG? Savannah didn't know what was going on at first, but when she finally saw Abby make him shorter, she was happy to have her Elmo back.
