Mother's Day Gift Giving Guide -- Spicy Truffle Bars from Cowgirl Chocolates (Review)

Now I couldn't do a Mother's Day Gift Giving Guide, without offering a chocolate treat.  As a chocoholic, I always love receiving chocolate as a gift for special occasions. And, with Mother's Day right around the corner, I wanted to make you aware of Cowgirl Chocolates and their new line of Spicy Truffle Bars.  

Head Cowgirl Marilyn Lysohir founded Cowgirl Chocolates in 1997. Her two favorite things in the world are art (she has a notable career as a ceramic sculptor) and chocolate. In fact her first job was working in a chocolate factory in Pennsylvania. Marilyn mingled some favorite memories with some new ideas to create an American original, Cowgirl Chocolates...chocolates with a spicy cowgirl kick. She was the pioneer, one of the first companies to offer spicy chocolates in the world.

Cowgirl Chocolates has won a total of 19 product awards and 2 packaging awards and is located in Moscow, Idaho USA. It has also been featured on the Food Network on “Unwrapped” and “Extreme Cuisine” and on CNBC “On the Money”. They have also been written up in the New York Times, InStyle, the Toronto Star among others.

I was sent a sampling of these new spicy bars, and have to warn you that if you don't like spicy foods, you will want to opt for Cowgirl Chocolates' milder versions.  But, for those that like it hot, like me, you will love these truffle bars.  Just look at the flavors I was sent to try out:

SPICY TRUFFLE BAR FLAVORS:  

Spicy Toffee Truffle Bar

Toffee bits blended with creamy milk chocolate and spice. Watch out though, the head cowgirl threw in some extra spice to kick things up a notch. 1.76 oz  

Spicy Mint Truffle Bar

Our delicious milk chocolate shell with a creamy mint infused milk chocolate truffle center and just the perfect amount of spice. 1.76 oz  

Spicy Raspberry Truffle Bar

Out of the 4 flavors listed above, I have to say my favorite was the Spicy Raspberry Dark Chocolate. You could really taste ripe raspberries with each bite you took. The over quality of Cowgirl Chocolates was great.  You could tell that they used premium chocolate, as it was so rich and creamy.  My husband, on the other hand, loved the Spicy Almond Truffle Bar, as he is a dark chocolate and almond lover.  At first, he said he couldn't taste the spicy hot flavor, but within seconds of taking the second bite, he felt the heat.  It was a pleasant treat to he rich, dark chocolate.  I can see why the folks at Cowgirl Chocolates said that you need to like spicy foods to enjoy their new Spicy Truffle Bars, as my mother could only take a nibble of the chocolate, before needing to take a sip of water to cool her mouth.  

I love experimenting with new chocolate flavors, and have to say that I loving the heat that these truffle bars pack.  Like I said, if you don't like hot and spicy foods, then you should opt for their milder premium chocolate, which includes the following flavors:

Double Dark Chocolate -
pure dark chocolate plain and simple

Ivory Orange -
white chocolate with a creamy milk chocolate orange infused center
