My Thoughts:
If you read my last post about the Caillou: Happy Easter! book review, then you know that Savannah is a huge Caillou fan. In addition to reading Caillou books to her, Savannah loves to snuggle on the couch during the afternoon with me and watch Caillou, while her little sister naps. This is a one of my favorite parts of the day, as I get to spend one-on-one time with Savannah, and watch how excited she gets when Caillou and his friends are on the television. So, as you can imagine, I was excited and eager to share this recent PBS Kids DVD release with her. Even though we have seen these episodes on television, it was nice to watch these outdoor adventures again. Savannah's favorite was "Caillou The Sports Star," in which Grandma holds Olympic games in the backyard for Caillou and his friends to win ribbons. Caillou gets discouraged as he continually loses, and sees his chances of winning a ribbon slip away -- that is, until he win one!
As a parent, I always make sure that Savannah is watching age appropriate and educational programming, when we sit down to watch television. I have not been disappointed yet with the programming shown on PBS Kids, which includes Caillou. Like my daughter, I enjoy watching Caillou explore new things and how it sparks his imagination. Lessons are learned from each episode, as well as the strong presence of family is seen, with Caillou, his little sister, parents and grandparents. As Savannah gets older, I know she will enjoy this animated series even more.
In addition to these fun-filled outdoor adventure episodes, this DVD also includes wonderful bonus material, including coloring pages and a fun game. Now that Savannah enjoys coloring, our refrigerator is covered in Caillou coloring pages, which I was able to print out in seconds.
With Easter around the corner, this DVD would make for a great Easter basket gift for that Caillou fan in your life.
