Summary:
Explore the world of color with Baby Bear!
Baby
Bear has so much to learn about the world! From the moment he wakes
until it’s time to curl up and go to sleep, he explores outside with his
mama. They see green leaves, blue jays, brown trout, and—best of all—a
patch of yummy red strawberries.
From bestselling picture book creator Ashley Wolff, here is a clever concept book that combines engaging and intricate linocut illustrations with a story that enthusiastically encourages children to identify a variety of vibrant colors. Young readers will delight in this chance to join Baby Bear as he discovers the colorful wonders of his lively, leafy forest home.
My Thoughts:
What a great book to share with young children, letting them know you as a mother will always be there to watch over them and help guide them in unfamiliar territory. In this book, Mother Bear introduces Baby Bear to the wonders of spring for the first time. Through the use of linoleum print and watercolor illustrations, the reader is pulled into the story, and make you wish for spring. Baby bear and Mama bear looked so realistic, even down their their dark black fur. I was never a black bear fan, but through these beautiful illustrations, which brought a sense of calmness and serenity to the bears and their natural surrounding, I have found a new found love for these animals.
Young children will love reading about Baby Bear explorations, as he stumbles upon all the wonders of spring, including a butterfly, brown trout, the sun, red strawberries and so much more. I love how the author/illustrator uses vibrant, eye catching colors to depict these items, in such a way that children will not only enjoy looking at these items, but they will also learn the colors associated with each.Savannah just loves this book. Since receiving it a couple of week ago, it has become a ritual at bedtime for her and Daddy to snuggle in bed and read this cute book together. Savannah is mesmerized by the bright, beautiful colors that make up each illustration, and can't help but flip back a few pages here and there to enjoy Baby Bear and the amazing nature scenes.
This would make for a great group reading book, as well as adding to your bedtime reading collections. Children, as well as adults will fall in love with Baby Bear and this beautifully illustrated children's book.
