My Thoughts:
You will make any cookbook lover or foodie happy this Valentine's Day, if you surprise them with this Betty Crocker Cookbook. With 1500 recipes, you will be inspired to get back into the kitchen and create some tasty and easy to create meals for your family to enjoy. Since receiving this cookbook a few weeks ago, I have been trying out 4-5 recipes each week with my family. A few of my family favorite's include the Maple Chicken Drummies, Ravioli Sausage-Mushroom Lasagna and Chicken Cacciatore. I especially love how they include heirloom recipes from previous editions of this cookbook, and offer a new twist, many of which can be made ahead of time for busy families or for entertaining. My family loves how I have switched from making a large tray of lasagna to using frozen raviolis.
In addition to entrees (beef, poultry, fish, pasta and vegetarian, this cookbook also offers side dishes (rice, grains, beans, salads and dressings) to desserts, breakfast dishes and even slow cooker recipes. With two babies in the house, the slow cooker has become my new best friend. And, with the help of this cookbooks and its amazing selection of slow cooker recipes, I have been able to provide a hot, homemade meal each and every night -- and, usually there are little to no leftovers -- each meal is that good!!! In the past few weeks, I have made family-favorite chili, jambalaya (wanted to try it out prior to the Superbowl), Colombian beef and sweet potato stew (this dish was amazing) and barbeque beef sandwiches. Each of these dishes, my family has asked me to make again (and soon).
I love spending an hour each week looking through this book and choosing a few recipes to make for the upcoming week's menu. Tonight, I am making Three-Bean Chili and Rice, another twist on a heirloom recipe. I'll let you know how it goes. But, right now, the house smells amazing!
So, if you are cookbook fan, or are looking for the perfect gift to give this Valentine's Day, why not consider picking up this Betty Crocker Cookbook. Like they say, "The way to a man's heart, it through his stomach." :-)
Happy Cooking!!!!
