My Thoughts:
I am a huge Scholastic Storybook Treasures fan, and was so excited to review and share this DVD with my daughter, Savannah. Since receiving it last month, we have watched the complete DVD collection at least once a week. My daughter just loves The Caterpillar and the Polliwog and Owen. My personal favorite is Chrysanthemum, which was narrated by Meryl Streep.
Being a mom, I am always on the lookout for great educational and fun DVDs to share with my daughter, and haven't found a Scholastic Storybook Treasures title I didn't like. Each DVD is jam packed with short films, which are usually narrated by famous actors and actresses, and DVD features includes Spanish versions of some of the shorts. Having a husband from El Salvador, we try to expose our daughters to multi-cultural books and movies, and I can't say enough about the Spanish versions of Scholastic Storybook Treasures titles I have viewed and shared with my children. My husband loves being able to share his culture and language with them, through fun and educational films.
My daughter is able to sit and watch a few of the stories at a time and stay engaged, as they are short in length. In addition, the stories offer a read-along feature, which I love, as it will help young readers learn to read and follow along.
This Scholastic Storybook Treasures title would make for a great Valentine's Day gift for your little ones. Why not give them a gift that they can enjoy for years to come, all while providing an excuse to spend quality time together viewing these classics brought to life through film. I love snuggling up next to Savannah, while we watch and talk about the stories.
