Make Potty Training Your Child a Fun Experience with the Help of the Potty Monkey by PottyMD (Review and Giveaway)

If you read my last post on the potty training DVD I reviewed, then you know that we are working with Savannah on potty training. It is hard to set aside an entire day to training her, like some of my friends had with their children, with a 10 week old in the house. I think Arabella knows when Savannah needs to go potty, as she begins to fuss and cry to get my attention. So, instead of giving Savannah my full attention and sitting with her while she tries to go potty for 10-15 minutes, I sometimes have to cut it short and tend to the baby. Because of this, it is taking longer to potty train her. 

Savannah understands the concept and knows when she has to go, as she will undress or pull me towards the bathroom. Sometimes she will hold it until she is on the potty, while other times she will go in her diaper before she is fully undressed and sitting on the potty - thus defeating the 10-15 time we have set to have her sit and go potty. This is where we are trying to work with Savannah on -- being able to hold it or know that she is going to go and signal to me, giving us ample time to get her on the potty. 

Thanks to an innovative and unique product, the Potty Monkey, by PottyMD, which I was sent to review over a week ago, Savannah is getting better at signaling the need to go. The concept behind this product is that the monkey is programed to let the child know he has to go potty every 30 minutes. Then, the child has to put the monkey on its potty. If the monkey is not placed on the potty, then he lets the child know he really needs to go potty, and after a few more times of saying this, he will let your child know that he had an accident in his pants. What a novel idea, huh? I love how Savannah hears the potty cue and races the monkey to the potty. Then, she hears him celebrate that he went potty. 

Just from using the Potty Monkey for over a week now, Savannah is getting better at letting us know she, too, needs to go potty. She will either bring us to potty and wait to be helped out of her clothes, or she will show me the Potty Monkey and toilet and we will bring them into the bathroom, where both the monkey and Savannah sit on their potty chairs and go the bathroom. It is so cute to see her interacting in such a way with the toy, and how it is helping to reinforce the need to sit on the potty and go the bathroom, rather than go in your diaper or underpants. As we continue to work with Savannah on potty training, I know the Potty Monkey will help her gain the confidence to go potty, all while she thinks she is helping potty train the monkey.
