Must See Movies -- A Turtle's Tale: Sammy's Adventures (Review and Giveaway)

Summary:

Born on a Baja, California beach in 1959, new hatchling Sammy must do what his fellow newborn sea turtles are doing: race across the beach to the ocean before a seagull or crab captures them. Thus begins Sammy’s incredible fifty-year ocean journey. Along the way he meets his best friend, a fellow turtle named Ray, and overcomes obstacles both natural and man-made while trying to fulfill his dream of travelling around the world. Throughout his travels, Sammy never forgets about Shelly – the turtle he saved on his first day and loves passionately from afar. Based on the actual course of a sea turtle’s life, this story of one creature’s breathtaking journey is a thrilling voyage the whole family will enjoy.

My Thoughts:

Featuring an all-star cast of voice overs, including Kathy Griffin, Stacy Keach, Melanie Griffith, Anthony Anderson, and Tim Curry, this movie is a great movie to share with children.  Both you and your child will love the oceanic world as seen through Sammy, the sea turtle's eyes.  Sammy is a cute and lovable turtle will share lessons he learns with your children, which include friendship and caring for the environment.

The movie spans 50 years of Sammy's oceanic life, in which we see him meeting his best friend, Ray and his sweetheart, Shelly, all while discovering how important it is to protect the earth, as we will be leaving it to those after us.  This heartfelt movie would make for a great family night movie, and one that would draw up discussions about simple acts one can do to help protect the earth, like recycling, composting, etc.  And, did I mention the music included in the film?  Wow.  I was tapping my feet, while Savannah was dancing along to Michael Jackson and the Mamas and the Papas, to name a few. 

This movie has quickly become a family favorite, and Sammy has won a spot in our hearts.  If you are looking for a wholesome family movie to share with your children, why not rent or buy a copy of this DVD today.
