Just in Time For Your Superbowl Party -- Aunt Nee’s Salsa (Review and Giveaway)

Who doesn’t like fresh salsa?  I think this is one of the big draws to Mexican restaurants, as you usually are served warm tortilla chips and fresh, homemade salsa.  I was never one to like salsa from the jars, and found it too time consuming to dice up all the peppers, tomatoes, cilantro and other dry ingredients, in order to made fresh salsa at home.  But, thanks to the folks at Aunt Nee’s, I can have salsa any time I want, in seconds.  You don’t believe me?  Well, then you haven’t tried Aunt Nee’s salsas. 

I was sent two packets of salsa, one mild and one medium, to try and share with you all.  As many of you know, we love hot foods in our house, so I made the medium salsa first.  Preparing the salsa was easy.  Simply tear open the salsa package, pour into a bowl, and then add fresh, diced tomatoes or 1 can of diced tomatoes.  Then, blend for 10 seconds, or mash by hand until well mixed.  Viola, you now how 1 cup of fresh salsa to chill and serve with tortilla chips.  I ended up adding a few hot pepper flakes to give the salsa a little extra kick.  Overall, the flavor of Aunt Nee’s salsa was good.  It tasted like homemade salsa, but only took seconds to make.

For the mild salsa packet, I ended up adding a pound of fresh, diced tomatoes, along with a chopped jalapeno pepper for heat.  I mixed this salsa by hand and chilled for a half hour.  My family loved this salsa, and commented on how thick it was, compared to the previous batch I made with the can of diced tomatoes, which was a little watery.  Going forward I would either drain some of the liquid if using the canned diced tomatoes, to make the salsa chunkier.  But, overall, I loved this salsa and will be buying more, just in time for the big game.  I can’t wait to try the hot and TNT flavors.  So, if you love salsa, why not pick up a packet or two of Aunt Nee’s for a special treat, or for the upcoming Superbowl?  You will be amazed at quick and easy it is to make this fresh tasting salsa!
