A few weeks back, I had the opportunity to host a Mega Bloks party for my mom’s group in my home – just days before giving birth to our daughter. So, as you can imagine, it was crazy planning for this party, and then holding it at 39 weeks pregnant. But, surprisingly, everyone had a great time. Thanks to MommyParties and Mega Blox for sending along a wonderful party kit, which included a large Tubtown Farm set of blox that my daughter just loves (and, I hate having to pick up all the blox at the end of the night , 5 Jungle Friends kits, 5 Garden Friends kits, coupons to buy more Mega Blox, as well as great party ideas and recipes.
Are you familiar with Mega Blox? If not, and you have little ones, you should really invest in a bag. Prior to holding this fun party, my daughter, Savannah, as well as all my friends’ children (both boys and girls) didn’t really have a toy that they absolutely loved. Instead, with their short attention spans, they would play with a toy or object for a few minutes and then move on. Being new parents, we have found ourselves buying them numerous toys, hoping to find the toy that they will love and want to play with all the time. Each of us has been unsuccessful, until this party. Mega Blox was the toy we were all waiting for. As soon as I showed my daughter the Jungle and Garden kit, as well as the Tubtown Farm set, she couldn’t stop playing with the blox. And, then when we held the party, the same reaction with each of the children.
You should have seen my house, with 10 toddlers, plus my daughter, and 11 moms and Mega Blox everywhere. With 3 floors to my house, I ended up having to space everyone in different areas throughout the house. Some were in the playroom off of my daughter’s nursery, while others were in the lower level basement scattered around, and then the last group were spread out in the living room, now turned 3 playroom, and hallway between the kitchen and dining area. Each child was having so much fun with their blox, and needed space to spread out and play. It was so cute seeing all the children engaged with their set of blox and to see them build things and at times knock them down.
The party lasted 3 hours (longer than expected), and we ended up having a few contests to see who could make the best design with their blox set. Both the children and moms loved this, as they were able to work together and then everyone was able to vote for their favorites. In addition to these building contests, we are played learning games, where we would say the colors of the blox and teach the younger children their colors and counting.
Overall, we have a wonderful time bonding as a group, as well as just enjoying mommy and me time with our children when we broke out into individual mom and child groups to play independently. These past couple of weeks, whenever I speak with the moms who attended this party, they can’t stop raving about the fun they and their children had, as well as how their children are loving their Mega Blox still at home – it has become their favorite toy!!!
Disclosure: I was chosen to host this Mega Blox party thanks to MommyParties and Mega Blox. The views above are mine and mine alone.
