My Thoughts:
Who doesn’t like Scholastic? I remember as a kid ordering books each month from them through my school. And, since then, they have come out with DVDs of their books, as well as of classic stories, that are brought to life through amazing storytelling and imagery. And, this is no exception to The Night Before Christmas…and more classic holiday tales. I was excited to view this DVD, as The Night Before Christmas was a family favorite growing up, and still is today. In addition, I love watching The Twelve Days of Christmas be brought to life in a short movie format – just brilliant. Besides these 2 storybook holiday classics, this DVD also offers up 10 additional stories, some of which teach children about other religions and how they they celebrate, like Kwanzaa and Hanukkah. My husband, who is from El Salvador, especially liked Too Many Tamales. He had never read this as a child, but thought it was cute and fitting to include it on this holiday collection, to showcase Hispanic celebrations and foods.
So, if you love holiday movies like I do. I think I enjoy this more than the shopping and baking of cookies – then, you will love this DVD collection of holiday favorites, or soon to be favorites. With Christmas just days away, this would make for a great Christmas Eve bonding experience with your family. We have been reading The Night Before Christmas since I was little, and will continue to do so (in addition to the new app by the same title available through iTunes) this Christmas Eve. Prior to this, I will watch a few of these short movies with my girls, as a way to unwind and get into the holiday spirit – before Santa comes to town!
