  • No reading required
  • My Thoughts:

It is hard to find fun games to play with your little ones.  Either they say they are for a certain age and then turn out to not be age appropriate (either being too old for your child to play, or one that talks down to your child, and not playing and boring your child).  But, thanks to the folks over at the Haywire Group, they have come up with a fun and adorable game for children ages 3+ called French Toast Forgets His Lunch.

The premise of the game is to fill French Toast's lunch box for school.  Each player chooses a breakfast food as their playing piece, and then takes turns traveling around the bright and colorful board game, collecting food for the lunch box.  if you land on a spot that matches your lunchbox game card, you pick up a game piece and add it to your lunch box. The game is played until one person has filled their lunch box.  How fun does this sound?

My daughter Savannah is too young for this game, but I played it along with a few of 3+ yrs. old boys and girls in our weekly Mommy and Me playgroup.  You should have seen all on the floor, playing this game.  The kids were hooting and hollering and having a great time.  They were eager to see who would fill their lunch box card first.  And, in the end, we ended up playing this game 3-4 times in a row, as everyone wanted to win, and couldn't stop playing this fun game.

So, if you have children ages 3+, and love to play board games, this would be a great game to pick up this holiday season.  And, with no reading required, it is easy to describe the rule to your child.  And, they will not feel intimidated with the board game, as reading is not necessary.

I incorporated education in the game.  As the children played, i talked about the food groups, eating a balanced diet, and about the benefits of fruits and veggies over sweets, etc.

This game is just one of the many board games the Haywire Group has to offer on their website.  Click here to access the online store now.  Games are categorized by age: Preschool, 6 and up, and 12 and up, as well as games for the entire family to enjoy together.  And, with the holidays upon us, why not pick up this and other Haywire Group titles to give as gifts, or to have on hand for Family Game Night, or snow days.

Disclosure:  I was sent a sample from the vendor in order to write up an honest review.  The views above are mine and mine alone.
