Summary:
In this delightful, fully animated holiday tale, Babar’s children, Arthur, Pom, Flora and Alexander write a letter to Father Christmas asking him to visit Celesteville at Christmas. But their letter never arrives because it is stolen by Babar’s Arch-enemy, Rataxes the Rhinoceros, who wants all of Santa’s toys for himself! When Babar sees his children so disappointed, he decides to make a journey in search of Father Christmas. Secretly followed by Rataxes, Babar’s adventure takes home viewers from Paris all the way to the North Pole, to the very toy shop of Father Christmas himself! Can Babar save Christmas for Celesteville? DVD bonuses include two extra episodes highlighting core family values, “A Child in the Snow” & “The Gift”, and an exclusive Babar coloring book! My Thoughts:
I simply love the holidays, especially when the holiday music begins playing non-stop on the radio, and when television channels begin showing holiday movies all day. I remember growing up enjoying the Babar books, and reading them each week with my mom at bedtime, as well as watching the cartoon on television. So, when I found out that they were digitally remastering these shows and adding them to DVD, I just had to get my hands on a copy of Babar and Father Christmas to share with my daughters. Even though they are too young right now to truly enjoy these movies, my oldest daughter, Savannah, couldn’t stop watching the movie, and has spent the past few days carrying around the DVD case requesting to watch it over and over again. I was amazed at the clean and crisp picture and how well they remastered the cartoon. Watching this movie with my daughter brought back fond memories of my childhood, which I hope to carry on with my daughters. Having grown up with Babar, I don’t have to worry about the content of these films, which I am always leery of when viewing a new movie with my children.
If you were a fan of Babar growing up, why not introduce your child(ren) to this wonderful series with Babar and Father Christmas. Who knows, maybe it will become a holiday favorite, like it has in our home.!
