Summary:
Rhyming text describes Hoot and Doodle as they dance, play, and sing in the barnyard.
My Thoughts:
This is one of two books in the Hoot and Doodle series. After reading this book to my daughter tonight for bed, I can't wait to pick up the other book, Sitting in a Tree, as well as read future releases in this soon-to-be popular series. What I loved most about this board book was the whimsical illustrations and rhyming text. And, it was so sturdy, that my daughter was able to grasp each page and help turn the page without bending corners or having pages stick together. She felt like a big girl, helping Mommy read our bedtime story book. And, the illustrations were so colorful, that she couldn't stop touching the pages and babbling while looking at Hoot and Doodle having fun in the barnyard.
Even though there are only 17 pages with text and illustrations, I was able to stretch the bedtime story time out by pointing out the animals in the barnyard and talking to Savannah about the colors and objects that were so beautiful illustrated. I can't wait to read this book again to Savannah. And, it has already become a hit with her, as she fought to give the book up at bedtime and wanted me to re-read it over again to her.
So, if you are looking to add a cute board book to your little one's collection or like "series books," then head on over to the Hoot and Doodle website to learn more. You can buy the 2 books currently available, as well as children's apparel.
About Hoot and Doodle:
We were preplexed when trying to buy eggs from a no-kill farm and we could not find one! We decided to buy our own chickens and that's why the Hoot and Doodle characters are alive and well & living in Oklahoma! That's right! Sitting in the backyard with our coffee in the mornings, we were so amused by their antics and personalities, we felt compelled to write books about their funky little way of life.
These chickens, and their feathered friends, were the inspiration behind the whole Hoot & Doodle line of books and clothes. And Tig, well Tig is alive and well and living in Oklahoma too! These unusual "pets" have so much character!
Then we thought, "why not take it one step further and make cool little clothes for the kids to enjoy their favorite characters throughout the day!" After making a few samples, the author tried the products out on her grand kids and voila - Hoot & Doodle were launched!
We hope your kids enjoy the stories and apparel as much as the kids we know do!
This does sound like a cute book, and it would be great to get it and the companion book, Sitting in a Tree!!
