I recently had the opportunity to try out SquidSoap, part of the SoapTime family of products in my home.  

What is SquidSoap?:

Like all SoapTime products, the goal of SquidSoap is to motivate the child to stay at the sink long enough for a proper wash. SquidSoap features an ink marker located on top of the pump dispenser so that when the pump is pushed down to dispense the soap, the hand is marked with an orange dot. The mark washes away with a 20 second wash, ensuring clean healthy hands!

Is the Squid Soap ink safe?
The SquidSoap ink is completely safe. It is an FDA approved ink (Food and Drug Administration) and has been sold for many years in children's products.

Will the ink get on clothes and towels?
SquidSoap has a protective foam ring around the ink marker which helps prevent accidental marking. The SquidSoap ink is a washable ink that comes out of most fabrics and surfaces with soap and water.

Why does it sometimes take longer to wash off the ink mark?
This is usually caused by waiting too long to wash after pressing the pump. Using a washcloth will take the ink mark off very quickly even if it's been on for a while.

What do I do if the marker runs dry?
The marker is designed to last through the entire bottle of soap, but it will eventually run out of ink. If the ink goes dry before the bottle is empty, you can remedy by simply adding a drop of water to the marker.

Each SquidSoap comes in a  8.4 FL OZ (250 ML) bottle.  This non-antibacterial soap has a nice citrus scent and is non-toxic, making it great for young children to use.  Having been a health educator, I spent many days at elementary school health fairs teaching children the proper way to wash their hands.  Many did use soap, or didn't wash for at least 20 seconds.  You would be surprised at how many parents and teachers weren't aware that  they should be washing for at least 20 seconds.  I wish I had this product with me when I was demonstrating proper hand washing techniques.  I just love the ink dot that is left on your child hands, and which washes away after 20 seconds.  What an ingenious idea and product for teaching young children hand washing in a fun and educational way.  I will definitely be buying more SquidSoap to have around the house, for each of the bathrooms.  It will also make a great conversation piece when people leave the bathroom and ask about the soap and reason for the inking.  And, I will know if they washed their hands for at least 20 seconds, if the ink dot still remains. :-)

So, if you have young children at home and are trying to teach them proper hand washing techniques or about proper hygiene, SquidSoap would make teaching so much easier and fun for all.
