My Review:

I recently had the opportunity to try out a recordable storybook from Hallmark, and chose, On the Night You Were Born by Nancy Tillman.  We used to read this book to my daughter, Savannah, while she was in the womb last year and after she was born.  After first reading this book, I fell in love with it, as well as the titles written by Nancy Tillman, and have continued to include this and the other books in our nightly readings to Savannah (and, her soon to arrive little sister).  I can't help but tear up each time I read this book, as Savannah was/is our miracle baby.  After going through cancer treatment in 2008, I was told I wouldn't be able to have children due to the treatments I had (radiation and chemo), but we tried anyways and last July we welcomed Savannah Rose.  And, through another blessing, she will have a little sister in 3 weeks or less.  

So, because she means the world to me, I try to find books that we can read together, that show her how important she is and how she is special.  And, On the Night You Were Born fits to a "T" here.  If you are unfamiliar with this title or author, Nancy Tillman, and have children or grandchildren, you are missing out and need to check out this and Nancy's other books.  Just look at the beautiful storyline and illustrations that make up this recordable book put out by Hallmark:

This book and the other recordable books put out by Hallmark will make great holiday gifts, as well as keepsakes for years to come.  I love how you can record the story in your own voice and lock it in, so that little fingers can't erase it.  And, when the batteries die, the recording still remains after you replace the batteries.  How great is that?  This would also make a great gift for military families, grandparents or relatives who live far away to record and send to your little ones.  Each time you sit down with your child to read/listen to the story, they will hear a familiar voice of that loved one, and it will feel like they are there with them, reading and sharing time together.

I will definitely be buying more books from the Hallmark Recordable Storybook collection this holiday season, and as new titles are added to share with my girls.  Reading together is important, and I always make a point to sit down daily (even if it is in the afternoon) to read to my daughter.  Not only is it helping to build her vocabulary, but it is a great way to bond and share one-on-one time.
