What is My Pet Firefly™?:

My Pet Firefly™ is a series of fun, comically styled fireflies set in glass jars. The ‘firefly’ flutters and flies around the inside of the jar with a realistic motion. True to its name, the firefly also lights up with an ultra-bright LED light that closely mimics the bioluminescence of a real firefly. The custom sculpting on the glass helps to further diffuse the light to create a dazzling spectacle. Three colors are available in the My Pet Firefly™ line: pink, blue and traditional green.

The patented technology at the core of the product creates movement within the jar that appears to be truly random. The user may also direct the firefly to flap or flutter its wings on command by tapping in a pre-programmed sequence on the jar or lid.

My Review:

Last month I stumbled across the My Pet Firefly™ series at our local Cracker Barrel.  I was fascinated with the technology and the appeal it had with the children playing with it at the store.  After that, I had to contact Gemmy Industries to find out more and see if they would allow me to write up a review and offer a giveaway.  You don't know how excited I was when I heard back and received a sample My Pet Firefly™ in the mail to try out.  As soon as I took the My Pet Firefly™jar out of the box, Savannah ran right over to me to see what I had received.  With a simple tap on the jar, the My Pet Firefly™ jar came to life with a green firefly flying around inside.  Savannah was mesmerized. She couldn't stop smiling and laughing, and couldn't keep her eyes off the glass jar.  I let her tap the lid, which also activates the firefly.  She beamed and smiled from ear to ear.  I couldn't believe how one toy could make a child so happy.  

I haven't seen anything else like the My Pet Firefly™ on the market.  What a novel invention that will sure keep children captivated for years to come.  This past summer we introduced Savannah to the fireflies that lit up the country nights, and it is nice with the colder weather coming to continue to share in this amazing and magical site.  I have placed the My Pet Firefly™glass jar on Savannah's dresser and walk by periodically and tap it to activate it.  Each and every time, she smiles and wants to see it again.
