If you have been following my blog since it began last July, you know that I love to feature other mom entrepreneurs and their products. If you are new to my blog, click here to learn about some of the amazing moms and their unique products, which I have highlighted in my Spotlight on Mommy Monday posts. And, if you are mom entrepreneur, you can learn how to be featured on my blog on this page.
After winning the Huggies MomInspired grant last year, I have been hard at work bringing my product, the SoothEaze blanket to market. It has been a slow process, as I was pregnant when I came up with the concept, and gave birth a month prior to winning the grant. And now, I am pregnant again and due the beginning of November with our second daughter. So, as you can imagine, my work and life schedule has been hectic. But, I love being a mom entrepreneur and learning from others moms who have invented unique must-have products. That being said, I would like to introduce you to the creators of Guavamitts and the Guavakids brand, Lili and Linsey.
As a blog hop stop for the Mompact Blog Hop, which is touring over 150 blogs and offering over 120 giveaways in one week (Sept. 12-17th), I had the opportunity to try out a pair of Guavamitts before they became available to the general public. Click here to learn more about the Mompact blog and follow the other blog site offering product reviews and giveaways of some amazing mom-invented products.
I was so excited when I received them in the mail. I couldn't believe the top quality and beautiful fabric that was used to make these mitts. Even though my daughter is 1 yr. old, there are days that I am just too tired to trim her nails after she falls asleep, that I put on a pair of protective gloves/mitts, until I can tend to them during her AM nap the next morning. But, as she has grown, it has been hard to find gloves/mitts that actually stay put in the night. And, with another baby on the way, this was a must have item on my list of items to pick up before baby arrived. I have tried a handful of so-called top quality protective mitts, but none seem to stay put or really do the trick.
So, when I received the pair of Guavamitts from Guavakids in the mail, I was skeptical at first, to see if they really worked and stayed put. Boy, was I pleasantly surprised!!!! After Hurricane Irene, I had to travel to my parents home in MA, as we didn't have power for over a week. As a result, I was packing in the dark and had forgotten to pack Savannah's nail trimmers. So, after 2 days at Nana and Papa's house, Savannah's nails had grown and she began scratching not only herself when she rubbed her face, but us when she was playing. Instead of waiting to return home to pick up my clippers in the coming days, or buy another pair at the store, I slipped on the Guavamitts at nighttime and waited and watched as Savannah tossed and turned and rubbed her face. I couldn't believe how these mitts stayed in place, and protected her delicate skin from scratches due to her nails growing. Luckily, the next day I had to head to CT to clean out and toss food from our refrigerator, which had spoiled, so I was able to pick up the clippers and trim Savannah's nails. But, if it wasn't for Lili and Lineays's invention, I would have had a baby with scratches everywhere, as her other protective mitts would have fallen off in the night.
If you are looking for the perfect baby shower gift, or are a new mom, then you must pick up a pair of Guavamitts today. They will help on those nights when you just can't stay up and wait for the baby to be sound asleep to trim their nails. And, as a baby shower gift, the recipient will be forever thankful for a must-have gift.
