My Review:

With Spring in bloom, and the days getting warmer, it was only fitting to read, Blooming Buddies in the Garden with Savannah.  This book is bound to become a family favorite, as the watercolor illustrations of flower and the short verse that goes along with each page is simply breathtaking.  You feel like you are being transported to a secret garden to sit and take in the beauty of the flowers.  The splash of colors in each watercolor truly capture the beauty and essence of the flowers and make the readers feel calm and happy.  Through the short verse, children and adults alike learn about core values like family, love, community and friendship. 

I can only imagine the number of budding artists this book with produce.  After looking at the beautiful illustrations, I too, wanted to sketch some of the beautiful flowers that can be seen from my window.

Savannah just loved looking at the flowers and touching the pages.  And, when she gets older, this book will be a great introduction to short verse for her.

About the Authors:

Deborah Donner’s flowers burst into bloom in 2006 when her daughter, Jenee, encouraged her to transform her pen sketches into fully developed watercolors. Deborah lives in a hand-built solar home on a magnificent 40-acre ridge top in Boulder Creek, California, with her husband, Marvin. When not running her land business, she can be found in her art studio, tending her garden, or taking long walks with her dogs.

Upon viewing her friend’s artwork, Wendy Peterson spontaneously began writing short companion verses and a partnership was born. Her passions are cooking and sharing cuisine creations with family and friends. She loves gardening on her 18 acres, Bloom Ridge, where she lives with her husband, David, her miracle daughter, Abbie, and family of pets which are lovingly referred to as “The Fur.”
