My Review:

3 stars out of 5

I had the opportunity to read and review this book, and have to say how impressed I was with the artwork done by Laura Bryant.  I could just flip through the book and look at these detailed illustrations.  But, I am reviewing the whole book and not just the illustrations.  I had heard about the "Little Bears" books before, but never had a chance to read them, until now.  This book I was given has all three stories, "God Gave Us the World," "God Gave Us Love," and "God Gave Us Heaven."  Each of these stories teaches a different lesson, using gentle Christian messages.  In, "God Gave Us the World, the messages that are trying to be spread are to appreciate and take care of the World and to accept everyone (even if they look different).  In "God Gave Us Love," the message deals with God's love and learning to love each other and ourselves. And, in the third story, "God Gave Us Heaven," deals with death and what Heaven looks like.  Each story is deep in context with the messages they are trying to share.  I don't think my daughter will understand these until she is much older, say 8 yrs. and above, even though the age range for this book is for children ages 4-8.  Younger children will love the beautiful illustrations, but I don't think the messages can be conversation starters for children this young.  I will definitely keep this book in Savannah's collection and share at a later time, when she can truly enjoy and comprehend the messages.
