I love celebrating "firsts" with my girls. And. this past weekend the girls got to host their first CD preview party. Thanks to the folks at Walt Disney Records, they not only sent along copies of the new Jake and The Never Land Pirates: Yo Ho Matey! CD for me to listen to and hand out to party guests, but I was provided with everything I needed, minus the food, to host a Jake and The Never Land Pirates: Yo Ho Matey! CD preview party. Out of my two girls, I like Savannah had the most fun when it came to party prep, as he helped me set the table, decorate the house, and was in charge of turning on the CD when the party guests arrived. Arabella, who is usually quiet and reserved, was the gracious party hostess and mingled around the room saying "Hello" to guests, as they handed them fun party favors to play with.
While we waited for all the guests to arrive, I played recorded Jake and The Never Land Pirates episodes in the background for the kids to watch. But, as soon as they saw the pirate hats, eye patches and tattoo station, they were more into getting them decked out to look like a pirate. :-) Argg!
Once everyone was seated at the table, I served up a fun pirate themed lunch, and finished the meal with cupcakes that Savannah had helped me make and decorate the night before. As the kids sat and ate their meal, I had the new Jake and The Never Land Pirates: Yo Ho Matey! CD playing in the background. After each song, I would stop the CD and ask the kids what they thought of the song. Included on this new CD are the following tracks:
- Ahoy Ahoy
- Lead the Way Jake
- Pirate Rock Recipe
- Gold Doubloons
- Pirate Island Hideout
- Bubble Blue
- The Codfish Reel
- Hook's Hooks
- Belay
- Never Bugs
- Rattle Yer Bones
- Bootbuckle
- X
- Tiki Tree Limbo
- Starfish Serenade
- Buccaneer Bike Ride
- Pirate Pogo
- Sea Legs
- Yo Ho Mateys (Ship Hop) Away
- Goodbye Crew
When I was not snapping photos or cleaning up, I was playing fun pirate themed games with the kids, or sitting down with them to watch some of their favorite Jake and The Never Land Pirates: Yo Ho Matey! episodes, which air daily on Disney Junior. Next to the recent Doc McStuffins CD, this is my kids' next favorite Walt Disney Records CD to listen. Since the party, we have listened to it in the car, as well as danced around the house as we act like pirates. :-)
If you have a Jake and The Never Land Pirates fan in your house, this would make for a nice gift to surprise them with, especially with the holidays fast approaching. My husband is usually not a fan of kids' music like this playing in the car, but I found him singing along to the songs. So, it is a keeper for long car rides. :-)
