THE OHMIES: MORNING WISH GARDEN

 THE OHMIES perform at Austin Kiddie Limits in October and a TV series is in the works

“Get ready to stretch your imagination as well as your legs, arms, bodies, and tee-hee muscles,” (NYMetroParents) as THE OHMIES release their first full-length musical album for preschoolers: THE OHMIES: MORNING WISH GARDEN. Produced by GRAMMY Award nominee Tor Hyams and featuring cast members from the hit NYC stage show, MORNING WISH GARDEN features ten original songs for playtime or anytime. The full album will be available digitally on September 17, 2013, with limited-edition CDs available for sale from www.theohmies.com and at live performances, including at Austin Kiddie Limits in October.

 

THE OHMIES debuted MORNING WISH GARDEN as an interactive musical theater experience for children on various NYC stages in 2011. The initial run resulted in raves from critics, parents and kids alike. NY1 TV called it “An incredible journey! A great musical!” Mommy bloggers were ecstatic. Mommypoppins exclaimed, “My five year old was enthralled by the colorfully costumed cast, catchy tunes, and intricate set,” and NYCMama proclaimed the show “brilliant.” The New York Times simply recommended THE OHMIES as “the best of the season.”

With momentum from recent engagements at the White House, United Arab Emirates and SummerStage NYC, THE OHMIES continue to wow audiences in New York and at venues around the country this fall and winter. They will appear at the massive Austin City Limits festival during October 5-13. This January, THE OHMIES will begin shooting a television series for a major Canadian broadcaster, and will showcase during the Association of Performing Arts Presenters annual conference.

"Our mission is to get kids up and moving throughout the day,” says Seth A. Goldstein, THE OHMIES’ Producer. “We know that kids respond strongly to great characters and stories and so we've created an album of songs that deliver fun, participatory activities that reinforce the healthy active living mentality in ways that kids find amusing and exciting.” Co-creators Laurie Miller and Ben Tollefson, with an advisory panel of early childhood and fitness experts, brought a background in children’s television to THE OHMIES experience. Their credits include gigs with Noggin TV’s “Oobie” and PBS Kids’ “Word World.”  Album Producer Tor Hyams, known for curating children’s stages at Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits, is thrilled about the album release. "It was an absolute pleasure working with THE OHMIES and their creative team. Their music is fresh, inviting, and appealing to a mass audience. I can't wait to see them get the kids moving at Austin Kiddie Limits." 

 

With THE OHMIES: MORNING WISH GARDEN, children ages 3 to 8 will discover their new BFFs – Bailey Butterfly, Carlin Caterpillar, and friends – who take them on an interactive journey to wake up Mr. Sun so that their garden of wishes may grow. Along the way, THE OHMIES lead the audience in a series of dance moves as they make new friends and invite the audience to participate in the story. From the first “hop around now” of the “Grasshopper Hop,” to the bilingual cha-cha-cha of “Come Slither with Us,” and to the progressive exercise of  “Relaxation Sensation,” young listeners will learn to move and think in brand new ways.
