Mara's Pasta -- 100% Artisan Whole Wheat Pasta (Review and Giveaway)

Now you would think that dry pasta is all the same -- wrong?  I recently had the opportunity to try whole wheat pasta from Mara's Pasta to review.  They sent me this lovely gift box, which included 3lbs. of their artisan whole wheat pasta (Farfalle, Fettuccine and Spaghetti)

My family switched to whole wheat pasta a few years ago after I learned about the high fiber and protein content that you get with this pasta, over regular pasta.  And, the flavor and texture of whole wheat pasta is amazing.  You would expect that high quality pasta plain or whole wheat would be chewier and have an earthy taste to it.  But, time after time I had boiled regular pasta to only be disappointed with the lack of flavor and rubbery feel and taste of the pasta.  That was until I switched to whole wheat pasta.

But, when I tried Mara's Pasta the other day, I couldn't get over how delicious this whole wheat pasta was.  Not only did it cook up faster than most pastas, but this was the first time there were no leftovers.  Everyone around the table kept scooping seconds and thirds.  Because we had no power, I ended up bringing the gift box with the 3 lbs. of Mara's Pasta to my parents house.  My mother made her delicious homemade pasta sauce and meatballs, and by the time we sat down to dinner and broke bread, everyone smiled, as we knew we were in for a memorable and tasty dinner.  :-)

I can't wait to pick up other varieties of Mara's Pasta, including their macaroni to make mac and cheese for the girls, and their penne for chicken alfredo.  And, when friends and family ask for recommendations for pasta, I will definitely be sharing my rave reviews of Mara's Pasta and their amazing artisan whole wheat pasta.
