Wooden Kitchen Spoons You'll Love and Want to Have (Review and Giveaway)

I fell in love with Jonathan's Spoons when I saw them at last year's Craft Boston.  Then, while reading Oprah's magazine, I stumbled upon these amazing wild cherry wooden spoons, as they were one of her favorites, too.  So, when I was recently send a sampling of these spoons to try out, I couldn't have been happier.

Jonathan's Spoons came about out of necessity, like many products/inventions do.  After forgetting to pack a spoon with his lunch, Jonathan ended up handcrafting one while working as an apprentice to a furniture maker.  His need developed into a love, and over the years has developed into Jonathan's Spoons, which is loved by novice cooks, celebrities and practically anyone who sets eyes on them.

Jonathan shares how his spoons have evolved over time by saying, "Originally made of uncommon spoon woods such as lilac, plum, and honeysuckle, I have since chosen to make my spoons of cherry wood. This is a hardwood with handsome color and grain, durable, smooth, and strong. My utensils have a unique sense of balance and warmth because they are designed with the hand and purpose in mind. "Spoons" have become spatulas, tongs, spaghetti forks, spreaders, and more. Today I offer a natural cherry finish, a flame-blackened surface with a sanded edge to reveal an accent of warm cherry wood, as well as flame-blackened stripes and spots."

I was sent to try out the following handcrafted spoons to try out, and don't know how I ever lived without them.

 Oven Rack Puller -- $18.00

Harmlessly hooking hot racks.  Once you've hooked the rack, it hangs on till your ready to push it back; 14 inches

Original Lazy Spoon -- $32.00

Celebrity super cook Rachael Ray calls this innovated spoon a "must have"! Notched to rest on your pot's edge. Drips stay in the pan, and the handle stays cool! "Is that the coolest thing ever or what?"; 12 inches

All the same features as the Lazy Spoon®, plus these fun wiggle slots for straining; 12 inches

Mixing Paddle -- $14.00

A flat spoon that fits the round bowl. For hot sauces or cold batters; reaches into mayo jars and blenders; 10 1/2 inches

Wide Serving Spoon -- $36.00

Perfect for hearty servings of your most delicious dish; 12 inches

My favorite by far was the oven rack puller.  I can't tell you how many times I have had to look for a pot holder or dish towel, so that I could take something out of the oven before it burned.  And, when I did find a pot holder, it would be worn out that I would burn my finger as I pulled the rack out.  But, thanks to Jonathan's Spoon oven rack puller, pulling out the oven rack has never been easier.

All of the spoons I was sent to review, beyond their functionality are just so beautiful to look at.  I ended up emptying out the container I was storing loose kitchen utensils in just to have a place to display these handcrafted spoons.  You can tell just by looking at them, that a lot of time and love was put into handcrafted each one.  From spreading, scooping, straining, whisking, ladling, grabbing, pouring, etc. Jonathan's Spoons will have you covered.

And, with the holidays right around the corner (as well as Grandparent's Day on Sept. 9th), Jonathan's Spoons would make for a lovely gift to foodies, cooks or even for those hard to shop for people on your list.
