My Thoughts:

Prior to receiving this complete set over a week ago, I had only seen a few episodes of this popular series, when my nephew would come to visit.  Because he is a huge science and adventure fan, he took to this series after stumbling across it on television.  So, when he came to visit last week, I surprised him with this box set to watch.  He was so excited and couldn't wait to have me but the on the first disc.  

Have you seen this series with your children?  It has been on for 17 consecutive seasons, and has won a Daytime Emmy Award, the 2010 Interactive Media's "Best in Class" Award, and the prestigious Annenberg Award for outstanding Educational Program.  This award winning series is geared towards children ages 4-10 yrs. old, and is available in both English and Spanish.  My nephew was visiting for the week, and we were able to watch the entire series -- all 52 episodes.  With the few rainy days we had, we would throw all the pillows we could find in the house on the living room floor, and watch Ms. Fizzle and her students, as they went on some amazing field trips, and learned about the human body, outer space, diving and the ocean, flying, and even about the dinosaurs and the prehistoric era.  Who knew we could have so much fine, and travel to so many places, all in the comfort of our living room.  

Even though Savannah is too young to really understand and appreciate this fun educational series, she watched some of the episodes, and was drawn in by the colorful animation and characters.  She loved Ms. Frizzle, who was so enthusiastic and loved teaching her students new things.  My nephew told me that when he heads back to school, he will be more prepared, thanks to The Magic School Bus series, and all that he learned during this marathon.  :-)  The way in which the content is presented is done so in a way that keep young children engaged, while making the content easy to understand and enjoyable.  Who wouldn't want to ride on a magic school bus and take a ride through the human body?  Sounds like fun to me. :-)

So, if you have young children between the ages of 4-10 yrs., and are looking for a great educational DVDs to add to your family's video collection, this is definitely one to consider.  You don't have to buy the complete series -- instead, this series is available in a two 3-DVD set (with 12 episodes each) or four single DVDs, with four episodes on each.  This is a great option for those not familiar with the series, and to see if your children will fall in love and enjoy The Magic School Bus series, as much as my nephew and so many older children and their parents.

Why not surprise your children with this series as a back-to-school gift.  Not only will they have fun watching each episode, but they will also learn about science in the process.
